I think this land’s a metaphor and my coffee’s getting cold would youse tell me what it is

Some spirit held it together, crossing fingers, across a great divide

It takes a friend to smile, it takes a brother to laugh, her cowboy poem made me cry

Even the river left town
All that’s left is private property
A stake in sacred ground
